Richland is a quaint town in southern Spencer County, Indiana, nestled just minutes from Evansville, IN, and Owensboro, KY. Having been a town in Southwest Indiana for over 150 years now, Richland has seen it's share of changes over the years, but the one thing that has remained constant is it's open arms that it greats everyone who visits it with.
Richland has been around since the early 1860's. In 2008, the Town of Richland was incorporated, and with the incorporation, Richland has been growing ever since. With the additions of wastewater management, town ordinances, a building inspector, and even fiber optic internet directly in to the home, Richland has all the amenities of a large community, but not the headaches that come with living in a large, metropolitan area.
Just a quick 20-minute drive West on historic State Highway 66, you will find yourself in Evansville, one of the largest cities in Indiana. Head East on Highway 66, then a couple miles south on Highway 161 and you'll be crossing the infamous Glover Cary Bridge, or as the locals call it, "The Blue Bridge", into Owensboro, KY, where the riverfront view is truly remarkable.
Council meetings are held the first Wednesday of each month at 6:00pm. They are held at the Town of Richland Clerk-Treasurer Office at
4023 N State Road 161, Richland, IN 47634
Weather and Holidays may cause a change to the regular meeting dates. Proper notice of meeting changes will be posted at the Clerk-Treasurers Office and on the Town Website.
